History of Lake George WIN

Originally organized under the umbrella of the Business and Professional Women’s Foundation, our mission was to achieve equity for all women in the workplace through advocacy, education, and information.

The Women in Need Committee or WIN, as we call it, was adopted by the Lake George BPW as a special committee in November of 1986.
This small local group sought non-profit status in 2011 in order to better serve the community in areas outside the workplace. However our mission today remains much the same: to help women, children and families that are in need in our community.

We’re proud of our three decade heritage of contributing to the needs of area residents, and we are devoted exclusively to the betterment of individual lives.

WIN is a public charity.  We have no paid staff.  All our members are volunteers, with a hands-on, let’s-get-this-done outlook!

We hold fundraising events throughout the year that are open to the public.  Our annual holiday auction in December and our golf tournament in June are two of our most well-attended, fun and successful affairs.

Because we have no government subsidies, our resources are limited to these various fundraising events, but more importantly, the acts of generosity provided by community residents, other charitable organizations/groups, and local businesses.

Please visit our “Donations” page to find out how you can help, too.
