BLESSING BAGS FOR THE HOMELESS
11/14/2015
Maureen Otto suggested that WIN make "Blessing Bags" for the homeless, and the idea was received enthusiastically at our last meeting. She has developed a list of suggested items, and we will be going forward with this idea.
Please add your thoughts & suggestions on this project.
Hello Ladies,
Below is a list of things that I thought should be in our BLESSING BAGS:
- Socks
- Hat
- Scarf
- Tooth Brush (travel size)
- Tooth paste
- Mouth wash
- Chapstick
- Hand/body lotion
- Comb
- Sanitizer
- Deodorant
- Body Powder
- Feminine hygiene products
- Wet Ones
- Cup-a-soup
- Instant coffee
- Tea
- Peanut Butter Crackers
- Granola Bar
- Raisins
- Non-perishable food items
- Plastic Utensils
- Travel Advil/Aleve
- Emergency Rain Poncho
- Thermos*
A small thermos can be costly so if you have one that you don’t use and are willing to part with bring it in to our next meeting. Having a thermos filled with hot water is a lifesaver. Also, if you have any old pocket books or backpacks bring them in as well. We can fill them with all the items listed above instead of using a zip lock bags. Someone brought it up at our last meeting and it is a wonderful idea. At our next meeting I would like to have a team of helpers to get these Blessing Bags made and distributed to those in need.
Ps I have chapstick covered. My step-daughter Robyn had donated a ton of her home made ones.
